Boston Celtics They will begin the 2022–23 NBA season against the Philadelphia Sixers at TD Garden on October 18.
Before embarking on this new chapter of the historic rivalry, the team announced that it would pay tribute to the historic player, Bill Russell, who passed away this year.
The information was released by Celtics co-owner, Wyck Grosbeck, in an interview with the Boston Globe.
“We are planning a celebration (in honor of Bill Russell) and we are in touch with his widow and family,” the director said.

“It is not clear whether the family wants the ceremony in style. I think they still don’t know what kind of tribute would be appropriate,” he said.
Despite this, Grosbeck explained that the team would celebrate the tribute during the opening night of the season, where the franchise prepares for a variety of activities and the appearance of the veterans.
“We will definitely pay tribute to him. We plan to decorate our field and uniform with some kind of tribute. We will try to do what is in our power, but we want his family to be happy with the result too”, concluded the manager.
